The Neato XV is built like a tank, but it has an Achilles' heel: Plastic ages. After 10+ years, the plastic clips, latches, and gears inside your robot become brittle. One wrong move, and snap—your dust bin won't lock, or your bumper falls off.
In the past, a broken latch meant buying a whole new $40 dust bin. Today, it costs about 12 cents in plastic filament.
Welcome to the Neato XV 3D printed parts revolution. Whether you own a printer or use a service like Shapeways, here are the essential Neato XV STL files you need to keep your robot running forever.
Table of contents
The Golden Rule: PLA vs. PETG vs. ABS
Before you hit “Print,” a warning.
Neato robots get warm, especially during charging. Standard PLA filament can warp at 60°C.
- PLA: Okay for external bumpers, but risky for internal parts.
- PETG: Highly Recommended. It’s flexible, heat-resistant, and easy to print.
- ABS/ASA: The best for durability, but harder to print.
The “Must-Print” Upgrade List
1. The Dust Bin Latch (The #1 Failure)
If your Neato dust bin latch is broken, your robot is useless. It won't detect the bin and will refuse to clean. The original spring-loaded handle is notorious for snapping at the pivot point.
- The Fix: There is a simplified, compliant mechanism design available that uses the plastic's own flexibility instead of a metal spring. It’s virtually indestructible.

2. The Lidar Motor Pulley
Remember fixing the Neato Error 3000 issue where we replaced the Lidar motor? Sometimes, when prying the old plastic pulley off the rusted motor shaft, it shatters.
- The Fix: You can 3D print a replacement pulley.
- Pro-Tip: Print this in ABS or Nylon if possible, as the motor shaft gets hot. If using a Neato Lidar pulley 3D print, ensure you use a “press fit” setting in your slicer (horizontal expansion -0.1mm) so it grips the shaft tightly.
3. Bumper Extensions (Furniture Savers)
The Neato XV is aggressive. It sometimes climbs up the legs of IKEA cantilever chairs or gets wedged under low cabinets.
- The Mod: Neato bumper extensions clip onto the existing bumper, lowering the profile by 10mm. This makes the robot “feel” the obstacle before it gets stuck under it.
- Search for: “Neato Lower Bumper Extension”
4. Wheel Drive Gears (Advanced)
If your robot sounds like a grinding coffee mill, your internal wheel gears might be stripped.
- The Fix: Printing replacement gears is possible, but they require a well-tuned printer. Use a 0.2mm nozzle for high precision.
Don't Have a 3D Printer?
If you don't have a Prusa or Ender at home, you still have options:
- Check Local Libraries: Many public libraries now have “Maker Spaces” where you can print files for free or cheap.
- Buy Pre-Printed Parts: We sell a “Neato Survival Kit” containing the latch, pulley, and bearing guards printed in high-grade PETG.
- 【Larger Build Volume】Creality Ender 3 V3 Plus offers a decent 300*300*330mm build volume. It allows you to printing life-size item in one piece, print more small parts in one batch, and reduce the cutting of super-large 3D models, greatly increasing efficiency and offering more creative possibilities.
- 【600mm/s High-speed Printing】Ender 3 V3 Plus 3d printer with CoreXZ and Y-axis dual motors, supports a maximum printing speed of 600mm/s, 20000mm/s² acceleration. It can print 12 times faster than a regular 3D printer. Prototyping and small-batch production can be done with a fraction of the previous time and cost.
- 【Upgraded XZ Belt & Accurate Z-axis, Less Wobbling】XZ belt tension does not need to be adjusted manually, and it is not easy to slip when driving at high speeds, ensuring long-lasting smooth and stable printing movement. Z-axis adopts precision optical shaft and synchronous belt can effectively optimize the model layer pattern when printing at high speeds.
- 【Robust Extruder & Packing a Punch】The direct drive extruder of creality 3d printer ender 3 v3 plus is enhanced by a bolster spring and a ball plunger. 1000h+* Clog-free Extrusion, it grips the filament tightly without slackening off. Side spring, bolstering the grip of extruding gears.Powder metallurgy lever, hard to deform, keeping the extrusion force.
- 【Auto Calibration Leveling & Quick Assembly】One-tap calibration, auto z offset & leveling, auto input shaping test, the auto calibration gets everything ready for you, no need to pull a paper or turn any screws. Ender-3 V3 Plus comes to you in highly pre-assembled modules.
